Cebu to host 6th Tribuna España-Filipinas

CEBU might host the 6th Tribuna España-Filipinas, an annual forum intended to revive and strengthen Filipino and Spanish cultural ties.

Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia said during the blessing of the newly-acquired patrol boat of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) last February 24 that she attended the event last year in Barcelona, Spain where she signed a sisterhood agreement with that city.

After her working visit to Barcelona, Spain February of last year, there is now the possibility for the 6th Tribuna España-Filipinas to be held in the Province of Cebu.

She added that Fundacion Santiago executive director Ricardo “Chaco” Molina informed her during a meeting that if the Tribuna will push through this November, there is a big possibility that it will be held in Cebu. The Tribuna is a yearly activity held alternately in Spain and the Philippines.

The forum, according to Molina, will be participated by around 40 people — including actors, businessmen, the academe, government officials, sports personalities — from Spain.

The highlight of the event last year in Barcelona was the forging of friendly cooperation between Cebu and Barcelona in the area of commerce, industry, agriculture, science, technology, and sports. (XSA)
